Experience

Dr. Contreras earned his undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Psychology from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) where he began his studies in Multicultural Psychology. He received his Master's and Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the Pennsylvania State University with an emphasis in LGBT psychotherapy. He completed his Psychology internship at Didi Hirsch Community Mental Health Clinic, an APA accredited program, in Culver City, CA. He completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at UCLA Counseling & Psychological Services.

Dr. Contreras has held a position as a clinical supervisor for students in the mental health field at various institutions. He previously served as the Clinical Supervisor for Psychological Testing & Assessment for both pre-doctoral and post-doctoral trainees at Didi Hirsch Community Mental Health, and at the University of Texas at El Paso.

In private practice, he works with individual adults and couples, and has an expertise in treating depression, anxiety disorders, and relationship difficulties. He has also worked with people struggling with substance abuse.
